The winners of the December LCPS Eagle Awards were celebrated at the LCPS School Board Meeting on Monday, December 9. These individuals were chosen for their outstanding contributions, which reflect the core values and goals of Lunenburg County Public Schools

Stanley Christopher, CHS Assistant Principal, was the LCPS Eagle Award Administrator Winner.  Mr. Christopher was nominated by co-workers and a student who had the following to say about him.

“It is my honor to nominate Mr. Stanley Christopher for the Eagle Award. From the moment he steps through our doors until the final whistle of football practice, he is steadfast in his commitment to our school. His leadership and dedication are felt in every corner of our building, resonating with each of us in unique and meaningful ways.

Mr. Christopher embodies what it means to be a true leader. He takes time to connect with each person, listening with compassion and understanding, and fostering a sense of unity and respect among individuals from all walks of life. Even on the most challenging days, he finds a moment to share a smile, lifting our spirits and reminding us of the strength we have in our team. In his presence, I feel inspired to give more of myself, to push a little harder, because he brings out the best in us all.

He is a role model I am deeply grateful for, a constant source of support and strength who makes everyone feel safe and valued. Mr. Christopher doesn’t just perform his duties; he enriches our culture, setting a standard of unwavering dedication and kindness. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this recognition.”

“Mr. Christopher is a great person both in the school and one the football field. He helps people with anything they need. He can answer any question no matter what it's about.”

“Strong leadership skills. Supports staff and students in meaningful ways. Promotes academic achievements and upholds LCPS values. And he does it without ever raising his voice.”

Melissa Jackson, VES Special Education Teacher, was the LCPS Eagle Award, Certified Employee Winner.  She was nominated by parents and co-workers.

“Mrs. Jackson goes above and beyond not only for the students but staff, as well. She shows such a positive attitude and motivates me. She is always on the go and helping out wherever she can.. her hard work never goes unnoticed.”

“I believe that Mrs. Jackson deserves the LCPS Eagle Award. My son transferred to VES from another school this year. We were very concerned about how the transition would go, as change can be extremely difficult for him. Mrs. Jackson went over and beyond to make him feel welcomed and cared for from day one. She also went over and beyond to give us peace of mind as his parents. She provided me with her contact information at open house and told me to feel free to contact her anytime, no matter the time of day. I reached out to her the night before the first day of school and told her that my son was super nervous about riding the bus to school, and that he was worried he wouldn't know where to go once he got to the school. The level of anxiety that he was feeling about this had me worried myself. Mrs. Jackson immediately offered a solution. The solution was that she would walk to the bus loop in the morning and would wait for his bus to arrive. She would then walk with him to his classroom so that he didn't feel nervous or worried. She told me that she would do this until he felt completely comfortable walking to his classroom alone, and she did just that for several weeks. This not only gave my son peace of mind, but it also gave us peace of mind as his parents. Since day one of the school year, she has gone over and beyond to ensure that my son had everything that he needed to succeed academically. You can always tell that she's extremely passionate about her job and that she truly loves what she does. VES is so lucky to have someone like her who cares as much as she does.”

“Mrs. Jackson is an exemplary teacher who is dedicated to the students, faculty and staff of Victoria Elementary School. Mrs. Jackson not only works tirelessly as a Special Education teacher, but is also an advocate for all students helping them to reach their full academic potential. Mrs. Jackson is very knowledgeable in her field and is always eager to lend a helping hand and offer teachers and students alike resources that can benefit in their learning. She is also our students biggest fan in the community as she can be seen at numerous youth sporting events and also helping with events such as after prom at CHS. Students and teachers alike love her at our school as she is professional, dependable approachable and ready to give her help in any way possible.

Mrs. Jackson is also very well rounded as she is also known for her talent of cooking and decorating as she helps to prepare many dishes and decorate for our First Friday lunches, baby and wedding showers. She spends her own time and money outside of school to help prepare for these events.

Mrs. Jackson's years of experience and dedication as an elementary school Special Education teacher is a true asset and blessing to our school.”

“Mrs Jackson has been working with our kids for quite a few years now and continuously goes above and beyond to help them succeed. She has been a wonderful resource to tools and strategies to best help our kids and is always there to listen. She cares deeply for the children and shows so much compassion. She is a true gem and blessing to our school system and VES.”

James Gee, Jr. , LMS ISS Coordinator , was the LCPS Eagle Award Classified Employee Winner.  Mr. Gee was nominated by a co-worker.

“Mr. Gee is an outstanding employee whose dedication to LCPS shines daily. I would not be the employee I am today without his guidance and support. He constantly encourages the staff and students and reminds us all that “we’ve got this”. Students enter his room with discipline and exit better for the time they served. He believes in holding the students accountable and wants them to succeed!”

Yuxiang Qiu, CHS 12th Grade Student was the LCPS Eagle Award Student Winner.  He was nominated by his peers.

“He attends Governor’s school.  He has good grades, attendance, and behavior. Another one of the smartest kids in the school. He is quite athletic and has a kind heart. He is in multiple clubs and sports as well. Overall he is a good student.”
