A Coronavirus Update from

Charles M. Berkley, Jr., LCPS Superintendent

With Coronavirus cases continuing to pop up around the state, Lunenburg County Public Schools is taking steps to make sure students and staff remain safe.  Here is an update on our current status and the measures we are taking as of March 11, 2020.

  • There are no plans to close schools at this time.  Teachers always plan ahead, but are now planning even further out so that students will have opportunities to keep up with work if anything changes.
  • School operations will continue as they are now but we will closely watch for announcements from the Governor, State Superintendent, the Public Health Office, etc.
  • Continuous cleaning will be done on a daily basis in the school and on the buses.
  • Field trips will be closely monitored with no field trips outside of the state to be granted or to any of the affected areas.
  • Students or employees who have any symptoms of illnesses need to stay home, and not to return to school or work too early.  Doing so could delay the recovery of the illness and expose others.
  • Practice good hygiene. Cover your mouth and nose when you cough and wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid TOUCHING YOUR EYES, NOSE, AND MOUTH.
  • If anyone or their families travel outside the country or to areas with known coronavirus, they should stay home for 14 days after returning.

Again, Lunenburg County Public Schools is doing everything that we can to keep our students and staff healthy and safe.  Please continue to check our website for further information.
