Dear LCPS Families,
Thank you for being part of our school community! We are excited to tell you that we will be using a program called Character Strong this year at all of our schools that aligns with the Lunenburg County Public Schools Character Education Policy (go to Section: IGAI). Character Education teaches skills that will help students become effective, productive, and contributing citizens in our schools and society. Research shows that character education helps improve the learning environment, promote student achievement, reduce disciplinary problems, and develop civic-minded students of good character. Specific character traits that will be focused on in the program include trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Each month in our schools, a different character trait will be emphasized and shared on our website and division Facebook page, so you can discuss that topic with your child. Please contact Tanya Braden, School Psychologist, at 434-676-2467, if you need any additional information about this program.
