Today, two of Mr. Buchanan's Marketing Classes at CHS were introduced to a Service Learning Project with the Lunenburg Animal Shelter. Animal Control Officer Ray Elliott and CTE Coordinator Karen McGrath, presented students with data surrounding the number of animals taken in by the shelter in the past year. Elliott and McGrath challenged them to come up with ideas on how to decrease these numbers and directly affect the outcome for these animals. In the coming weeks students will visit the shelter and develop and implement a plan to tackle these issues in our county. Officer Elliott kept students on their toes, enforcing main points by asking questions and throwing candy to those who answered correctly. The intention of Service Learning Projects is for students to learn and apply academic, social, and personal skills to improve our community, continue individual growth, and develop a lifelong ethic of service.
