This week, Mrs. Hilliard's Culinary Arts students learned to prepare bolognese, handmade pasta, and sourdough bread.

Several students from Central High School visited the American Civil War Museum in Appomattox, Virginia. They viewed relics from the Civil War and learned about fighters and leaders from the North and the South. They had a great time and learned a lot. They also enjoyed lunch at the local Pizza Hut.

On Friday, Ms. Bayne's Photography 2 and 3 Classes took a field trip to Longwood University. The students met with Longwood's photography professor and toured the art department. They also practiced street photography while on the campus. Street photography is a type of candid photography that leans towards photojournalism and aims to capture people in their everyday life in public spaces.

The CHS Teachers for Tomorrow students visited Longwood University on March 22. Students attended a presentation in the Admissions office and toured the campus with a Longwood Ambassador that included the Rotunda, the new Upchurch Student Center, and an exclusive tour of the Andy Taylor Early Childhood Development Center. The director of the center talked about internship opportunities available for students while in high school and college.
Students ended their visit with lunch in the campus dining hall. Another highlight of the trip was the students were able to meet and take a picture with President Reveley.
Many thanks to Rosa Townsend, Longwood University Transfer Navigator, Early Childhood Education, the Admissions Office, and Emily Davidson, Site Director for the Andy Taylor Center for Early Childhood Development for a special trip. Longwood also provided transportation and lunch for the students.
