The CHS Teachers for Tomorrow students visited Longwood University on March 22. Students attended a presentation in the Admissions office and toured the campus with a Longwood Ambassador that included the Rotunda, the new Upchurch Student Center, and an exclusive tour of the Andy Taylor Early Childhood Development Center. The director of the center talked about internship opportunities available for students while in high school and college.
Students ended their visit with lunch in the campus dining hall. Another highlight of the trip was the students were able to meet and take a picture with President Reveley.
Many thanks to Rosa Townsend, Longwood University Transfer Navigator, Early Childhood Education, the Admissions Office, and Emily Davidson, Site Director for the Andy Taylor Center for Early Childhood Development for a special trip. Longwood also provided transportation and lunch for the students.

Congratulations to Kashanti Hargrove, the March Work-Based Learning Student of the Month. Kashanti is a senior and an intern in the high school cafeteria. Kashanti’s cafeteria manager says she learns quickly, is dependable, and works well with others. The skills she is learning by working in the commercial kitchen at the high school will help prepare her for future employment. Kashanti would like to own and operate a bakery in the future.

Congratulations to CHS students Jahiem Callaham and Jackson Green who are new interns at Sunset Ornamental Concrete. Pictured with the interns is the owner, Mitch White. Thank you for supporting our students.! Please visit Sunset Ornamental Concrete at 571 Price Gee Road in Meherrin. The company produces concrete statuary, birdbaths, benches, lawn decor and is a distributor of wood sheds and steel buildings.
Kindergarten Registration Day is TOMORROW, Friday, March 3, 2023, at both elementary schools. If you have a child who will be 5 on or before September 30, 2023, make plans NOW to attend! If your child is a current LCPS Pre K student at either elementary school, you only have to provide proof of Lunenburg County residency, and our guidance counselors will be in touch over the summer if anything else is needed. Don't forget to bring your child with you! They will have a chance to visit the Kindergarten Classrooms! Check out the flyer below for more information!
Region 8 Spring Transition Fair!
The Teachers for Tomorrow students have been completing their weekly fieldwork at KES and VES. Each high school student is assigned to a teacher who mentors them throughout the semester. Their fieldwork began in January and will end at the end of April.
After this semester, our students are eligible to take Teachers for Tomorrow II which is through SVCC. They will receive dual enrollment and high school credit and will continue to complete work at the elementary schools.
