💜💛Congratulations to Lauren Burch who is the March Work Based Learning Student of the Month. Lauren is a marketing co-op student who works at TJ Maxx in South Hill. In addition to this job, Lauren also has an internship at Ridge Animal Hospital in Farmville where she shadows the veterinarian in the operating room and assists with routine checkups and vaccines during clinic days. Lauren plans to attend Longwood University in the fall to major in Biology to later attend veterinary school to become a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.💜💛

💜💛Central High School is proud to announce our March Student of the Month, Karmia Burns. Karmia is a 12th Grader at CHS and the daughter of Kendra Blackwell of Victoria, Virginia. Her teachers describe her as a very kind and caring person in and out of the classroom. She is currently working to complete her clinical hours at the Estes Center for her Nurse Aide classes, which she takes through Southside Virginia Community College. In addition, Karmia serves as the Secretary for the Central High School’s chapter of the National Honor Society. She has also participated in the CHS Competition Cheer team at CHS this school year. Upon graduation, Karmia plans to attend Radford University to pursue a career in nursing. She desires later to serve her community as a labor and delivery nurse.💜💛

Due to the extreme rainfall recently and the very soft roadway shoulders that have resulted, Bus 18 slid into the ditch as it was pulling out of the driveway this morning. No students were involved, and Bus 18 is now operational on the road. Thank you for your patience.

📚📖Lunenburg County Public Schools is in the process of adopting Reading (Literacy) Textbooks for the elementary schools, grades kindergarten through fifth grade, for the 2024-2025 school year. These textbooks will be available for community review at the Lunenburg County School Board Office from March 5th to March 11th, 2024 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. 📚📖Upon review, any family member or citizen with concerns related to these textbooks can submit their written comments. In addition, If you have any questions about the textbook review, please reach out to Dawn Bacon, Director of Elementary Instruction at 434-676-2467, extension 2145.

🏆Congratulations to Kendall Lewis, Lunenburg County Public Schools" Division Spelling Bee Winner! Kendall is an eighth-grader at Lunenburg Middle School. LCPS Families: Lunenburg County Public Schools will be conducting drills for lock-down procedures in each of its schools during the week of March 4, 2024. These are just DRILLS. This message serves as our official notice. Code of Virginia Lock-Down Drills § 22.1-137.2. In every public school, there shall be a lock-down drill at least once during the first 20 school days of each school session, in order that students and teachers may be thoroughly practiced in such drills. Every public school shall hold at least two additional lock-down drills after the first 60 days of the school session. Every public school shall provide the parents of enrolled students with at least 24 hours' notice before the school conducts any lock-down drill. Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students shall be exempt from mandatory participation in lock-down drills during the first 60 days of the school session.
