Chronic absenteeism is at a critically high rate across the state of VA. Governor Youngkin announced his comprehensive plan yesterday, "All IN VA," of which attendance is a major focus. With September being Attendance Awareness Month, here at LCPS, we have created a webpage for attendance and a video, starring LCPS Students, that highlights our attendance motto for the year, "Win With Less than 10." It is important that students be at school EVERY DAY! When they are not, it affects ALL areas of their academics! https://www.lunenburgcountyschools.org/page/attendance https://youtu.be/VI_R3Vv4Fnw #ElevateEducators #AttendanceAwarenessMonth #AttendanceMattersVA #WinWithLessThan10

💜💛Central High School is proud to announce our September Student of the Month, Jeyson Ramirez Macario. Jeyson is a 9th grader at CHS and he is the son of Mr. Lauro Ramirez and Mrs. Vitalina Macaro of Kenbridge, Virginia. His teachers describe him as a delight to have in the classroom. Jeyson is an extremely hard worker, a good classmate to his fellow group partners, and is always polite to his teachers. He enjoys playing soccer with his family and friends and helps play music at his family's church. In addition, Jeyson has played many years of recreational soccer and hopes to try out this spring for the Central High School Soccer team. He feels that with his hard work and the support of his best friend, he will be successful. After graduating high school, Jeyson desires to become a police officer and give back to his community.💜💛 #ChargerPride

At Central High School, we believe in creating as many opportunities as possible for our students to own their future. That’s why we offer the PSAT/NMSQT® (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) to our students on October 24, 2023. Whether your child is thinking about attending a two- or four-year college, is going straight into the workforce, or isn’t sure what they want to do after high school, the PSAT/NMSQT can help make their path clearer.  Results from the PSAT/NMSQT provide insights into your child’s academic strengths, along with areas they can work on while still in high school. Taking the PSAT/NMSQT can also help your child to:  Enter the National Merit® Scholarship Program if they meet the program requirements specified in the PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide. (11th Grade)  See where they are and set a target for where they want to be.  Practice and prepare for the SAT®.  Find out what AP® courses they’re ready to take.  Plan and pay for college.  Connect to their future career. This fall the PSAT/NMSQT will be administered in a new digital format—followed by the SAT in spring 2024—that will provide an overall easier testing experience for students. Your child can participate in the PSAT/NMSQT on October 24th using their school-issued device. The cost is $18.00. Fee Waivers are available for those who qualify. Watch this video to see what students can expect from the digital PSAT/NMSQT. If you or your child have questions about the PSAT/NMSQT or college and career planning, please reach out to me or your child’s counselor—we’re here to help! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yljPogCcKrY
