As we bring Mental Health Awareness Month to a close, we would like to recognize Donna Daniel, our Behavioral Health Specialist. We thank her for all that she does to assist our students at Lunenburg Middle School and Central High School!
A HUGE shout out to our cafeteria staff at all of our schools for providing breakfast and lunch for our students all year long! And now some of them are also gearing up for summer meals! Thank you, Sarah Graves, Barbara Smith, Annie Bell, Joan Smith, Laverne Richardson, Jasmine Wilson, Kristie Thompson, Delois Townsend, Melvina Hayes, Christine Edmonds, Nina Crowder, and Barbara Strum. Congratulations to the Central High School CTE students and teachers for their success this year with industry certifications. Over 330 certification tests were passed this school year. This is a 77% increase in certifications passed from last school year.
The certifications include ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery), AAFCS Culinary, BASF Plant Science, Microsoft 2019 Word, Excel and Powerpoint Associate, National Career Readiness Certificate, National Customer Service and Sales, Parapro® and W!se Financial Literacy. These students can list this achievement on college, job, and scholarship applications. It also fulfills a graduation requirement in the state of Virginia.

The Lunenburg County Historical Society is pleased to announce the winners in its annual essay contest for eighth grade students who are residents of Lunenburg. The contest was coordinated by Mrs. Candace Barnette, who teaches eighth grade English at Lunenburg Middle School.
Students were challenged to find out more about the history of their home county by reading portions of The Lunenburg Legacy by Gay W. Neale. Judges, selected by the historical society, carefully evaluated the papers submitted to them and decided on the winners.
The winners of the 2023 contest are as follows:

🏆2nd place: Ricky Ramirez Morales
🏆3rd place: Evelyn Kirkland
Winners received award certificates, as well as monetary prizes. Congratulations!
Congratulations to the fourteen Teachers for Tomorrow students who passed the Parapro® Exam this school year. This nationally recognized test is used to measure reading, math, and writing skills. Students who passed this test may apply for instructional assistant and substitute teacher jobs after high school graduation. As a result of the Parapro® testing this year, a graduating senior is applying for an instructional assistant position with the county.
Good afternoon LCPS Families! Just a reminder that tomorrow, Wednesday, May 24, is the last day of school for the 2022-2023 School Year. This is an early dismissal day for students. Central High School and Lunenburg Middle School will dismiss at 12 noon. Kenbridge and Victoria Elementary Schools will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. Have a safe and enjoyable Summer Break!
💜💛The Charger Track teams had 31 athletes qualify for the Region 1 - B Track Meet this Wednesday. This year's meet will be held at Sussex Central High School. Field Events will commence at 1:45 pm and Running Events will begin at 3:00 pm. Region B admission is $8.00. Parents and fans should bring lawn or bag chairs. GO CHARGERS!💜💛#LetsGoChargers
⚾️💜💛The Charger Baseball Team attained the #3 Seed in the Region 1 - B and will host #6 Seed Rappahannock County on Thursday, May 25th at 6:00 pm in a Regional Quarterfinal game. ⚽️🥎💜💛Congratulations to our Charger Softball and Soccer teams for attaining our region's top seeds after excellent regular seasons. Both teams will have a first round bye this week before returning to action on Tuesday, May 30th. Soccer will host the winner of #4 Franklin and #5 Surry. Softball will host the winner of #4 Surry vs. #5 Cumberland. Both games will have a 6:00 pm start time. ⚽️🥎💜💛#LetsGoChargers
Your child's report cards and SOL scores will be COMING SOON! Please review the letter linked below from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) to see how you will be able to use the new Student Assessment Summary report, along with your child's report card and SOL scores, to determine areas in which your child may need academic assistance. Should you determine that assistance is needed, the letter also discusses grant funding that is available to parents for tutoring and other educational services.
