Today, two of Mr. Buchanan's Marketing Classes at CHS were introduced to a Service Learning Project with the Lunenburg Animal Shelter. Animal Control Officer Ray Elliott and CTE Coordinator Karen McGrath, presented students with data surrounding the number of animals taken in by the shelter in the past year. Elliott and McGrath challenged them to come up with ideas on how to decrease these numbers and directly affect the outcome for these animals. In the coming weeks students will visit the shelter and develop and implement a plan to tackle these issues in our county. Officer Elliott kept students on their toes, enforcing main points by asking questions and throwing candy to those who answered correctly. The intention of Service Learning Projects is for students to learn and apply academic, social, and personal skills to improve our community, continue individual growth, and develop a lifelong ethic of service. #ServiceLearning 💜💛

Central High and Lunenburg Middle School Athletic Director Wallace Owen recently expressed gratitude from the athletes of both schools to the staff of the Lunenburg Medical Center. The doctors, PAs, and nurses performed physical examinations for over 100 prospective athletes during the Spring and Summer of 2022. Owen stated: "It is difficult to find a way to express our appreciation for the support the medical center has provided for our athletes and their families. Therefore, we proudly present the LMC Staff with an official Charger Athletic Letter with medallions representing all of our sports. These good people are definitely 'First Team' as far as we are concerned." The presentation was made at an informal ceremony on Tuesday, August 30th. Left to right: Phyllis Konrath LPN, Anna Hues PNP, Amber Watson Tanner LPN, Wallace Owen, Elizabeth Buchanan FNP and Dr. Kaitlyn Inge, Chief Medical Officer.

Just a reminder that if your child has special dietary requirements (food allergies, special food preparation, etc.), you must provide a note from your child's doctor to the school nurse. It needs to be on the doctor's letterhead or written from the doctor's prescription pad. A new note has to be provided every school year. Thank you!
